DSLRs are effective astrophotography cameras (even for long exposures of deep-sky targets with decent sensitivity and low noise which allows them to record weak details. Just use an equatorial mount with autoguide port and EAGLE CORE will allow you to record wonderful images of the objects of the Universe both using photographic lenses and telescopes!

Thanks to EAGLE CORE, your instrument will have the high performance of an astrophotography telescope but with the portability and ease of use of a star tracker.

Compared to the EAGLE2, and thanks to the Windows operating system and the ability to install any astrophotography software Eagle Core is perfect for the astrophotographer who wants to do advanced astrophotography, EAGLE CORE is designed for beginners to astrophotography who are searching for a very simple to use system or for those who want an easily transportable system travel telescope.

To do decent astrophotography, connecting a DSLR to the telescope is not enough. It is necessary to be able to set and control the camera without touching it to avoid vibrations while recording and to use autoguiding to automatically correct normal tracking errors of most equatorial mounts. When using an external computer the telescope becomes complicated because of additional cables or power supplies, it is less portable and it is necessary to study the capture and guide software. EAGLE CORE simplifies both your telescope and software, making your instrument easier to use and transport.

As with other EAGLE control units, EAGLE CORE is installed directly on to your telescope, it powers the elements of your telescope (12V, up to 3 instruments) and it has a modular PLUS case allowing you to install it on all telescopes and to personalize your configuration as you prefer. It has also been designed to allow you to do long exposure astrophotography even with telephoto lenses thanks to a special shooting mode with the guide scope positioned at the telephoto lens side.

In order to use EAGLE CORE together with a telephoto lens (and guide scope in parallel) you have to add a "140mm PLUS dovetail bar" to be connected under the EAGLE CORE body, in order to install everything on the equatorial mount. In the upper part the Eagle Core has a 1 1/4" photo thread to connect a photo ball head and then the camera. If you have a heavy telephoto lens (for example with focal length higher than 200mm) you can add the "PLUS Vixen+Losmandy dovetail clamp". Then you can connect the "PLUS 90mm Vixen dovetail bar" under the camera and then connect everything in the dovetail clamp. The guide scope is installed, using the optional 80mm PLUS guide rings and PLUS raisers, to be fixed on the side of EAGLE CORE.

In order to use EAGLE CORE with a telescope (and guide scope in parallel) you can connect it in many different ways and it's compatible with all the telescopes on the market: you can fix it on top of PLUS support rings (for example when you use a refractor) or you can add the dovetail clamp Vixen+Losmandy PLUS and connect to any Vixen or Losmandy style bar. Above the EAGLE CORE body you can connect PLUS guide rings with guide scope (where to insert the guide camera).

We have optimized the Windows 10 Enterprise installation on the EAGLE to be a faster operating system (the EAGLE is ready to use just 20 seconds after pressing the ON button) and to maintain better stability during your astrophotography sessions. EAGLE 3 S uses a 2.4 GHz Intel i3 processor and 8 GB fast DDR4L RAM memory - both designed for low power consumption. This way you have the power you need to run any astrophotography software with a device thatís easy on your battery, improving overall portability.

Fast, high capacity SSD storage to install all your astrophotography software and save your precious data. Different from traditional spinning hard disks, the SSD drive in the EAGLE has no moving parts, so itís faster and more durable over time. Full aluminum PLUS case, CNC made, designed to allow an easy integration with any telescope and to support demanding weights (like a telescope mounted in parallel) without flexure. You can connect the EAGLE to any type of telescope, allowing you to have less cabling with shorter runs that move together with the telescope. This drastically reduces the potential for a cable snagging or detaching while your telescope tracks the stars across the sky. We designed the EAGLE case to be incredibly rigid - rigid enough to a support a parallel telescope (up to 5 kg). The EAGLE case comes with M5 and M6 threaded holes to seamlessly attach PLUS accessories (support rings, guide rings, dovetail bars or dovetail clamps), at at least 2 points to maintain the system's rigidity. Do you want to automate dew heaters power control based on dew point? Just add ECCO, the Environmental Computerized COntrolled for EAGLE, and it will automatically and continuously monitor the temperature, humidity of the air around your telescope and the temperature of your lenses by calculating the dew point (the temperature below which dew condenses). This way it will vary the heating of dew heaters connected to the appropriate ports avoiding dew to condensate on your optics.

Telescope control: the EAGLE Manager
EAGLE comes with special "EAGLE Manager" software that, when you start EAGLE and with an easy and intuitive interface, shows devices connection status, power consumption of every device connected, power voltage value and, if you use a battery, its expected lifetime based on its charge. Thanks to EAGLE Manager, with EAGLE you can:

Enable/Disable every 12V power out port: this way you can keep all your devices connected (for example, mount, CCD camera, filter wheel, etc.) and activate them remotely when you turn on the entire system. Each port shows the current consumption that can also be monitored over time.
Set the power out voltage of the 3 x 0-12V power out ports: for example, you can increase or decrease the heat generated by the anti-dewing heaters that are connected to EAGLE without an external controller. Each port shows the current consumption that can also be monitored over time.
Connect or disconnect devices connected to the 4 USB 2.0 ports: this feature is convenient in case of temporary crash of an autoguider or planetary camera, which can then be reset without the need to go to the telescope and disconnect/reconnect a cable.
Check power consumption and battery lifetime: if you power your EAGLE with a battery, a dedicated menu allows you to set the Ampere capacity of your battery and charge percentage when EAGLE is powered on, enabling you to monitor its expected lifetime.
Set WiFi connectivity: to access EAGLE in Access Point mode for field use (use your smartphone, tablet or external computer by connecting directly to EAGLE without the need of a WiFi router) or HOST mode for connecting to your existing network such as the home one.
Remotely turn on/off the entire telescope: EAGLE has a classic ON/OFF button for turn on/off the unit. But it is pre-set to allow the user to turn on or turn off the whole system remotely (when controlled through a network cable connection). After switching on the EAGLE, the user can activate remotely connected devices and use the telescope. At the end of the capture, the user first turns off the various devices (camera, mount, etc.) and then EAGLE.

PrimaLuce CNC Tube Rings

Primaluce PLUS support rings are part of their system PLUS (Prima Luce Universal System) which includes a large variety of support rings, plates, guide rings and dovetail clamps to offer you the maximum freedom to build your mechanical system of support, depending on the application that you want to achieve. Indeed, all the PLUS elements have threaded holes, holes and slots suitable for connecting elements, always with maximum rigidity and comfort.

For this application, we designed many elements, including this range of PLUS support rings. Each component of the PLUS system is made of aluminum blocks that are high precision CNC machined. The aluminum is then sandblasted to achieve a very smooth surface finish and is anodized (hard anodizing) to increase the hardness of the material and protect it from oxidation.

Thanks to the particular design, the PLUS support rings are equipped with holes (above and below each ring) to permit the attachment of:

Vixen or Losmandy plates below the rings to install the telescope on any mount
PLUS guide rings (each ring can be fixed on the support ring with 2 screws)
Vixen or Losmandy plates above the rings to increase the rigidity of the mechanical system and enable to install other accessories, such as dovetail clamps with guide rings to precisely adjust the position of the giode telescope.
