The results are simply amazing: a system delivering more than a 70mm large corrected and flat field that is over the entire field diffraction limited.
And, more than this, over a spectral range from 380nm to 2000 nm!

These outstanding optics are mounted inside the
state of the art OS-Truss mechanics used in all the OS open tube architecture telescopes. The same mechanics approved and used from worldwide research institutes for professional studies.

The RiDK 400 is 100% Made in Italy. Optics are made in Occhiobello Plant under the strict quality control of Massimo Riccardi.

The mechanics, designed by our R&D Manager, Giovanni Dal Lago, are engineered,
manufactured and assembled at the Thiene plant.

The RiDK 400 is a system that delivers a 70mm fully corrected, flat field and an imaging performance that is diffraction limited across the entire field over a wide spectral range (380nm to 2000nm). These outstanding optics are mounted inside a state-of-the art Officina Stellare open truss tube made of zero expansion carbon fiber; the same high quality optical tube assembly used in all Officina Stellare open truss-style telescopes the world over.

The Officina Stellare Veloce RH 200 - Riccardi-Honders Astrograph is a premier, innovative, Officina Stellare exclusive!

The primary Mangin mirror optical design features a large front full aperture corrector lens and near zero expansion BK7 optical glass for the primary and secondary mirror. It has two spaced elements for the rear group. The aperture is 200mm (8") and provides an incredible ultra fast, wide field with an F/3 focal ratio and 600mm focal length.

Add to that a flat 60 mm diameter field, with 6 micron maximum star spot size.

The materials Officinia Stellare uses in their premium quality telescopes are mostly aluminum and carbon fiber because of their lightness, their mechanical and thermal properties and for the optimal resistance to environmental conditions.

All the mechanical parts for the the OTA are machined using CNC computer assisted machines and from a whole block of aluminum to guarantee the best possible precision. Also the carbon fiber components are produced following strict specification and tolerances. Each part has been computer designed and optimized for the best structural performance, rigidity and lightness. The holding systems for both mirrors, the spider, rings and all the structural components, even the smallest, are CNC machined from a single block of special aluminum (6061/7075, Ergal and Anticorodal), stainless steel, titanium and brass.

The tubes are made of true carbon-graphite fiber obtained with the use of high vacuum process, allowing Officina Stellareus to obtain very stable focus during temperature changes and still maintaining the best structural rigidity and lightness.

Great care is taken in the making of the rear holding cell of the primary mirror. The entire rear cell for the primary mirror is figured to have the best rigidity/weight ratio and for the fastest possible thermal stabilization between the environment and mirror.

Great attention has been applied to simplify the collimation between the mirrors resulting in a stable, efficient but easy to use system. The collimation is accomplished by acting on just three points (the minimum required points to generate a single plane) using a special, great diameter preloaded bolts (one for each point). This results in single hand use, simply turn the bolt left or right to move the mirror back and forth (no more complicated operations using push pull screws and locks) in a very intuitive way. Finding the correct positions is a snap. The mirror border uses an opaque, circular mask to avoid any undesired light scattering. The light shields for the primary and secondary mirrors are computer designed and optimized to ensure complete illumination of the field still maintaining complete protection from stray light.

Inside the light shields there are also micro baffles that reduce internal reflections, coupled with an opaque painting of the surfaces, to nearly zero any possibility of stray light.

The back plate of the telescopes comes standard with a system for adjusting the planarity of the focal plane in order to compensate for any small misalignment in the imaging train, always unwanted and annoying specially on todays large CCD cameras.

The Veloce RH 200 ships with the new Officina Stellare Focuser.

Officina Stellare decided to develop a special focuser which includes important features such as
large diameter, very low profile, micrometrical movement, Ability to motorise, easy interface with a lot of photo accessories.

The focuser has approx 16 mm of travel, a 72 mm x 1 (Takahashi standard thread) at the back end,

The focuser is guided by an external micrometrical screw (absolutely zero shift, the thread lockes the draw tube), and it is very strong thanks to the three Guide ball bearings.
