Pulsar Observatories have now introduced their new 2.2m dome. Based on a similar design to the 2.7m model the 2.2m offers the following advantages over the older 2.1m dome

2) Dome aperture is wider and longer. this gives more clear sky and is of particular benefit to astro imagers as the dome can now accomodatre larger aperture telescopes more easily and does not require rotating for much longer intervals

Customer Requirements:

The customer will need to provide a level concrete base to ensure secure fixing and dome operation.

Various upgrades and accessories are currently being developed.

The 2.7 metre Observatory Dome is available in white or green.

We can also supply a steel pier, that will complete the permanent installation of your telescope, giving you more space within the dome than your existing tripod. The pier can be delivered and installed free of charge with your observatory, if ordered together.

Rigel Dome Rotation Drive System

Motorise your Dome rotation – a must for unattended long exposure photography and imaging. Slew the observatory dome in line with your telescope, then leave your telescope and dome to continue tracking the chosen object.

Designed for the Pulsar 2.7 metre dome and new 2.2 metre dome.

Specification:

The dome controller is powered via the supplied 12V DC 7AH lead-acid battery, at a current suitable for the motor employed to operate the dome rotation. Power to the unit is controlled via the main switch and a red LED indicates when power is turned on. Dome slewing at 400 x sidereal speed in either direction is by remote operation, using the keyfob transmitter (range uo to 100m). A microprocessor controls the automatic tracking by moving the dome in a stepwise fashion, each step being approximately 1.8°. Tracking speed can be adjusted from 10 x sidereal down to sidereal ÷ 20 using the tracking control knob. It is recommended that the unit is switched off when not in use.

Using the Solar Panel charger accessory, the unit can be trickle charged during the daylight hours.

Rigel Dome Shutter Drive System

Rigel Dome Shutter Drive System

Motorise your Dome shutters – automated shutters avoid manual operation in the dark, and is a vital step towards full remote operation of your observatory.

Designed for the Pulsar 2.7 metre dome only.

Adaptable to custom built observatories.

Specification:

The shutter controller requires 12V DC power (at a current suitable for the motors employed) to operate the shutter motors. Power to the unit is controlled via the three-position switch with the central position being off. The dome shutter is controlled by moving the three-position switch to the open or close positions. To stop the shutter operation at any time, move the three-position switch to the off position. The sliding shutter and swinging flap operate sequentially with the shutter motor operating before the flap motor during opening and the reverse during closing. It is recommended that the unit is switched to the off position when not in use.
